Psychological Support: Together We Can Overcome Any Obstacle
Imagine a place where every family struggling with illness can find emotional support and answers to their concerns. Thanks to our psychological support programme, this place exists and offers comfort and understanding.
Why the programme was created
Every illness brings with it a double challenge: the personal one and the family one. It does not only affect the sufferer, but also weighs on the shoulders of all family members, bringing obstacles, disadvantages, worries and pain.
To meet these challenges, our Association has created a psychological support programme offering monthly individual and group meetings with an experienced psychologist.

Psychological Support Meetings
The meetings are designed to help families cope with the emotional stresses associated with the disease, from the formalisation of the diagnosis through to daily living with the disease and, often, to bereavement.
These meetings provide an opportunity to meet with other parents experiencing similar difficulties and with an expert who can help deal with them.

Objectives of the meetings
Supporting family dynamics
Avoiding states of guilt, anger and despair
Focusing on the dynamics of the relationship between spouses
The psychologist in charge of the programme
Expert psychologist Lucia Biasco hosts the programme.
Types of meetings
By age group of children
By time elapsed since the syndrome was discovered
For the processing of grief
Focus on Couple Relationships
Dealing with the diagnosis and day-to-day management of the syndrome can undermine a couple’s balance or exacerbate pre-existing conflicts, triggering a destructive spiral between responsibilities as partners and caregivers. Our aim is to help couples navigate these challenges and find a healthy and sustainable balance.
Attention to Brothers and Sisters
Let us not forget siblings either. Through special meetings, Dr. Biasco addresses a number of specific risks: such as isolation, peer prejudice, feelings of shame and frustration, a push towards too early autonomy and perceived deprivation of parental care due to the increased demands of the ‘weaker’ sibling.
